Before and After Care Programs
North Tampa offers two Before and After Care programs. Children in kindergarten, grade one, and grade two may participate in the program offered by the Explorers in our Early Childhood Center. Children in grades 3-12 may participate in our Middle and Upper School program.
Our goal is to extend the North Tampa experience by providing our children with educational, social, and recreational activities within a caring, Christian environment. We are committed to offering a program that is a positive, safe, and fun experience for our school family. Students have the opportunity to complete homework, study, read, participate in group activities, or continue their project-based learning endeavors. Students may wish to bring a book, art, craft, or activity they enjoy that contributes to their overall development as well-rounded individuals. Additionally, North Tampa will provide children in the After Care program with the opportunity to participate in developmentally-appropriate interactive activities and meaningful play experiences. Weather permitting, students will have access to supervised play on the playground.
For the convenience of parents with early morning schedules, North Tampa offers Before Care starting at 6:30 a.m. Please note that the campus will remain locked until 6:30 a.m. At that time, the gate will be opened and cars will be allowed to enter. If you are dropping off a child prior to 7:30 a.m, please pull up to the parking spaces in front of the Early Childhood Center and wait for a morning greeter to pick up your child. Parents dropping off between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. should follow the drop off and pick up policies.
All students attending the Before Care program are required to remain in the designated area under the supervision of assigned personnel until dismissed. Before Care ends at 7:30 a.m., at which time students will be sent to their learning communities to begin the day.
To maintain our campus security, students may remain after the end of the academic day only under one of the following three conditions:
- They are officially registered for music, sports, or other after-school activities.
- They have arranged for academic help and will remain under the supervision of a faculty member who has given prior assent.
- They are checked into our After Care program.
If students are not registered for after-school activities or have not made prior arrangements for academic help from a faculty member, parents are required to pick them up at dismissal time or check them into the After Care program. For the safety of all students, this applies to our entire campus, from early childhood through high school.
After Care begins 30 minutes after dismissal and ends at 6:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday and at 5:30 p.m. on Fridays. There is a late pick-up fee of $1 per minute after 6:00 p.m. More detailed information about our pick up and safety procedures will be published before school starts and posted on our school communication site, Schoology Enterprise.
Before Care and After Care are billed at $5 per hour per child.
