From famous birthplaces to historical homes, Tampa is full of history. North Tampa Christian Academy, a Tampa private school, has a list of historical and educational attractions that you can visit with your child! Your child will learn all about the cultural history of our monuments and battlefields.
American Victory Museum and Ship
The American Victory Museum and Ship is one of only four fully-operational World War II ships in the country. A national treasure and true American icon, the American Victory Ship gives your child an unforgettable experience in the voyage of discovery. You can even attend special events or host private birthday parties on-board!
Centennial Park
For the nature-loving child, visit Centennial Park for statues, monuments, and signs that tell the history of Ybor City. Pack a picnic, sit in the shade, and take in your surroundings. Plus, the parking is free for up to two hours!
Florida Historic Golf Trail
Florida has a lot of history, but did you know it’s rich in golf? Dating back to the 1880s, Florida’s golf history is recognized as one of the earliest in the nation. Multiple courses were developed along with hotels and railroads across the state. The Florida Historic Golf Trail celebrates Florida’s golf heritage from the late 1890s through WWII.
Henry B. Plant Museum
The Henry B. Plant Museum is located inside the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel, the 500+-room Victorian railroad resort that is now a national historic landmark. Now it’s the south wing of Plant Hall on the University of Tampa’s campus. Unlike other museums, it displays elite furnishings used by the first guests to ever visit.
Tampa Baseball Museum
Does your child love sports? For the baseball-lover, this museum knocks it out of the park. The Tampa Baseball Museum celebrates Tampa’s 125 years of baseball heritage. Experience Tampa’s baseball tradition by visiting the home of more than 80 professional players from Tampa that are honored. Additionally, it includes the people and places that shaped them — from West Tampa to Ybor City and the players’ coaches.
